President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States on September 24. A significant subject of their discussions is expected to be artificial intelligence (AI).
Trump disclosed the visit during remarks at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He emphasized his administration’s initiative to develop more AI data centers. “President Xi is coming over on September 24th,” Trump stated. “We talked about it when I was over in Beijing, and we’ll be talking about it again.”
“Whoever wins that race is probably going to win, period,” Trump noted, highlighting the competitive importance of AI technology.
The two leaders have previously met in Beijing earlier this year, where Trump extended the invitation to Xi to visit the White House.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently discussed preparations for what Rubio described as a “very positive visit.” They are laying the groundwork for the meeting, according to Reuters.
The White House did not provide an immediate response to queries from Fox News Digital.
