Pete Crow-Armstrong has once again earned a spot on the National League All-Star team. The Chicago Cubs center fielder was named as a reserve on Saturday, marking his second consecutive season in the Midsummer Classic.
Before a game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Cubs manager Craig Counsell praised Crow-Armstrong. “Great players capture the attention of young fans,” he noted. Counsell also highlighted Crow-Armstrong’s diverse skill set, stating, “There’s something in every part of the game that he does well. He’s not a giant but has the ability to perform exceptionally, creating a connection with fans. He entertains naturally.”
Crow-Armstrong recently hit a solo home run against the Padres at Wrigley Field on June 30, 2026. This All-Star recognition follows earning the NL Player of the Month award, a first in his career, after a historic performance in June. He batted .381, with 11 home runs, and 20 RBIs, alongside other impressive stats. His achievements are comparable with baseball legends like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
During the final phase of fan voting for All-Star Game starters, Crow-Armstrong’s significant fan support nearly secured him a starting position. Although he finished 10th among NL outfielders, his impact was clear, doubling his vote totals in the final days.
With a 5.2 fWAR, Crow-Armstrong leads all MLB hitters. Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals follows as the only other position player with an fWAR above 4.0.
Last season saw Crow-Armstrong’s rise with 37 doubles, 31 home runs, and 35 stolen bases, earning a 5.9 fWAR and becoming a fan favorite. His ability to perform in high-pressure situations, supported by fan chants of “P-C-A,” showcases his growth and experience, according to Counsell.
The 96th All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Wrigley Field will host next year’s game for the first time since 1990.
