Penta Triumphs Over Rey Fenix for WWE Title Shot

Penta and Rey Fenix delivered a thrilling performance on “Monday Night Raw,” captivating fans with their high-energy wrestling techniques. Competing for a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship, both luchadores aimed to secure an opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns in Mexico City on September 14.

The match took place at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 31, 2026. Fans witnessed Penta and Fenix’s deep familiarity with each other’s style, resulting in a fiercely contested bout. The match kept audiences on Netflix engaged, as the two went toe-to-toe, each move more daring than the last.

Fenix attempted to shift the momentum with a counter to Penta’s avalanche Mexican destroyer, stunning the audience with a Mexican muscle buster. The action soon spilled outside the ring, where Fenix tried to land a finishing move on the announcers’ desk. Penta, however, reversed it, executing a Penta Driver through the table and leaving fans in awe.

Back in the ring, Penta targeted Fenix’s arm, setting up for another Mexican destroyer. Securing the pin, Penta emerged as the tournament winner, earning his chance at WWE’s top title.

After the match, Roman Reigns confronted Penta in the ring, signaling the upcoming challenge Penta presents. Known for facing top WWE talents like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and John Cena, Reigns prepares for a unique encounter with Penta’s distinct wrestling style.

The possibility of Penta leaving Mexico City as the world heavyweight champion would be significant. Reigns’ championship reign remains solid, but Penta’s opportunity represents a major milestone since his WWE debut.

Meanwhile, Rey Fenix’s future remains promising despite his loss to Penta. He is set to feature in Triplemania 34, a two-night event for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. The event’s first night takes place in Las Vegas on September 11, and the second in Mexico City on September 13.

Fenix will defend the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Jack Cartwheel, Mini Vikingo, and Nathan Frazer. As the match to determine the No. 1 contender ended in a time limit draw, Fenix announced his intention to face all three challengers at Triplemania.
