Paula Scanlan Highlights Aryna Sabalenka’s Advocacy
Paula Scanlan, known for her advocacy for women’s sports, recently appeared on ‘Fox & Friends’ to commend Aryna Sabalenka. Sabalenka, ranked world No. 1 in women’s tennis, has spoken in favor of the World Tennis Association’s policy regarding biological males competing in women’s sports. Scanlan, who was once a teammate of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, also weighed in on Martina Navratilova’s criticism of Caitlin Clark’s neutral stance on this issue, describing it as a ‘bailout.’
Amanda Anisimova’s Beverage Buzz
During the Cincinnati Open, Amanda Anisimova caught viewers’ attention as she appeared to consume a mysterious beverage. While competing against Alex Eala, the Tennis Channel broadcast showed Anisimova taking sips from a plastic cup, sparking curiosity. The drink’s concealment led fans to speculate that Anisimova was drinking a beer.
Broadcasters Brett Haber and Lindsay Davenport speculated during the telecast. “Could be apple cider,” Davenport suggested, while Haber humorously remarked, “I mean, I would never suggest that a player was drinking a beer in the middle of a match, but that’s certainly what it looked like.” In response to the unclear beverage, Haber noted, “It could be non-alcoholic. It could be cider. It could be anything. We don’t know.”
Anisimova, 24, won her match 6-2, advancing to the Round of 16. This fueled social media excitement, especially with users joking about the idea of drinking beer during a match. “I don’t know if I have ever seen anything more nails than Amanda Anisimova just drilling a beer mid game and then winning the match,” a fan commented.
However, the mystery was solved when courtside camera operators confirmed that Anisimova was sipping on a Red Bull. Despite the initial intrigue, social media still found amusement in the moment, highlighting the unexpected fun of the situation.
Anisimova’s next match will be against Linda Noskova on Wednesday.
