Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore was injured during Saturday’s game against the USC Trojans after a hard hit by linebacker Desman Stephens II. The incident happened early in the second quarter when Moore slid to avoid a tackle and Stephens struck his head.
Stephens was ejected for targeting and received a one-game suspension for his actions following the hit. Moore displayed the fencing response, an involuntary reflex that often signals a severe head injury. After the game, he was diagnosed with a concussion, though MRI and CT scans showed no additional injuries.
Moore shared his thoughts on the injury, saying, “To my team, the community, and to the World, thank you. These past 2 days have been difficult, but through all of your prayers, I have made progress. There are times I question myself and the Lord and ask ‘Why now?’ but I quickly remember Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’. I can only focus on today, ensuring I give it my full attention. I’ll be back soon. Go Ducks!”
Following Moore’s exit, backup quarterback Dylan Raiola took over. Raiola passed for 289 yards and two touchdowns, helping lead the Ducks to a 41-27 win.
Oregon’s next game is scheduled against the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, October 10.
