Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Shares Health Update After Hysterectomy

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi provided fans with an update on her health, six months after revealing her cancer diagnosis. In a heartfelt Instagram video, the 38-year-old reality star disclosed that she underwent a hysterectomy following her cervical cancer diagnosis.

The video opened with footage of Polizzi at the hospital, preparing for her surgery, while she narrated her experience. Later, she spoke directly to the camera, detailing her recovery process. “I told you guys in general I’m not good with pain,” Polizzi admitted. “We did that C-section cut, and he ended up taking out the uterus, my cervix, and some parts of my vagina to ensure everything was removed. We kept my ovaries, so I don’t go into pre-menopause, which is nice.”

Polizzi shared the emotional journey on Instagram, highlighting her surgery. She mentioned the support from her viewers by saying, “Sorry, it’s just been a lot, but I’m trying to stay in good spirits.” Adding insight into her mindset before the procedure, she described the nerves and anxiety she faced when being prepared for surgery, “I was starting to get nervous and anxious, checked in, and then they rolled me into where they’re doing the procedure.” She emphasized how she tried to stay positive despite feeling her heart race and experiencing anxiety.

As the operation approached, she recounted her fear and emotional struggle, sharing, “I started hysterically bawling. I was so scared, feeling like I don’t know what’s gonna happen.” Despite her fears, she appreciated the hospital staff’s reassurance. “I lay down, and then they give me something in my IV. I’m like, ‘why couldn’t you give me this 20 minutes ago so I could calm down?'”

Polizzi injected humor into the situation by mentioning her determination to “set the record” for staying awake the longest after anesthesia. Proudly, she revealed counting to ten, surpassing the typical three-second mark advised by the doctors.

Besides the hysterectomy, Polizzi addressed the treatment for diastasis recti, a condition sometimes experienced after childbirth, as she had three children. “Sometimes your abs, they disconnect,” she explained.

Polizzi expressed the importance of sharing her health journey, stating, “It’s a scary thing many of us women deal with, and no one really talks about it. So I’m here to give that platform for us ladies.”

She acknowledged the comments from followers undergoing similar surgeries, providing support and encouragement. “I’m here to show you it’s scary, but it’s okay to be scared,” she continued. “It’s over; I just have to deal with the pain. Just like any surgery, you manage it, get the pain meds, and in a couple of days, you’ll feel brand spanking new. No more periods, no more birth control, and hopefully, cancer-free.”

She concluded by reminding viewers to “get your Pap smears, okay?” Her initial diagnosis of Stage 1 cervical cancer was shared in February, indicating the likelihood of needing a hysterectomy.
