The early season optimism for the New York Giants has been challenged after injuries affected their key players. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, in his second NFL season, injured his left knee during the first series of the game against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. The injury was a result of a first-quarter hit, where Dart was struck by Rams defenders, causing his knee to bend unnaturally.
Receiver Malik Nabers also posed concerns when he left the game due to an incomplete pass attempt, clutching his right shoulder. However, he returned after resting on the bench. Dart’s injury raised significant worry as he was seen clutching his knee, which is pivotal to his throwing motion.
Fortunately, Dart’s leg was not planted when he was hit, reducing the likelihood of a severe ACL tear. Nonetheless, there is speculation from an NFL source about a possible MCL issue. If confirmed, Dart will avoid surgery but will need some recovery time.
Dart was initially treated in the team’s medical tent, surrounded by concerned teammates. Later, he moved to the locker room with a limp but under his own strength. In Dart’s absence, Jameis Winston stepped in as the backup quarterback.
