Netflix Launches ‘Hot Ones: Extra Heat’

1 day ago 0

Netflix has announced a new addition to its lineup with a spinoff of the popular YouTube series ‘Hot Ones.’ The show, hosted by Sean Evans, is known for its celebrity interviews conducted over spicy chicken wings.

This new series, titled ‘Hot Ones: Extra Heat,’ will stream on Netflix after significant live sports events and major series or film premieres. The debut episode is scheduled for July 13, following the live broadcast of the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby on Netflix.

Netflix’s venture into ‘Hot Ones’ marks another move in its ongoing competition with YouTube. According to Nielsen, YouTube holds the top spot as the most-watched streaming service on American television, with Netflix trailing behind. Over recent years, Netflix has entered agreements with creators initially known on YouTube, such as Ms. Rachel and Mark Rober.

Sean Evans revealed that ‘Hot Ones: Extra Heat’ will maintain several familiar aspects of the original series for its fans, continuing the flagship ‘Hot Ones’ episodes on YouTube. However, the new show will have a larger budget and will add more spectacle. The format will still involve celebrities eating increasingly spicy wings, but it will move beyond its classic studio setup to different venues, such as a college baseball stadium for the first episode.
