Multiple Injuries in Minneapolis Police-Involved Shooting

A shooting involving police officers took place in downtown Minneapolis, injuring several individuals, including two officers. The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed the incident happened Thursday afternoon near 15 E. Grant St. The scene remains active, with law enforcement urging caution.

KSTP-TV in St. Paul reported that multiple civilians were killed after at least six individuals, including two officers, were shot. One officer was hit in the stomach, and another was shot in the leg. As of 5:39 p.m. local time, one officer was undergoing surgery, while the other’s injuries were not life-threatening. Officials had not yet confirmed fatalities or detailed victim conditions by 6 p.m. local time.

Videos on social media showed armed officers aiming rifles at an apartment tower near the Minneapolis Convention Center. Residents were advised to avoid the Loring Park area due to the ongoing law enforcement activity.

Federal and State Officials Respond

FBI Director Kash Patel stated on social media that the FBI is aware and responding to the incident, offering resources to support local authorities. The ATF’s St. Paul office also noted special agents are responding to the active shooter situation near East Grant St. and South Marquette.

Governor Tim Walz communicated that his public safety team is on-site to support local enforcement, promising more information when available. He expressed gratitude for law enforcement’s efforts to ensure public safety in downtown Minneapolis.

Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth expressed awareness of the shooting reports, offering prayers for the victims and appreciation for the law enforcement response.
