A tragic incident unfolded in House Springs, Missouri, where a mother and her teenage daughter were shot by a neighbor during a dispute. The altercation took place on July 25, when Robert Winkelman, aged 73, visited the home of Jessica Lashly to address ongoing frustrations with activities at her residence, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Winkelman engaged 38-year-old Jessica Lashly in a conversation, during which he unexpectedly produced a firearm, shooting her in the head. Her 17-year-old daughter, Jersey Greer, attempted to assist her mother but was also shot by Winkelman, as stated by the sheriff’s office. A third individual present at the scene was pursued by Winkelman but was not harmed.

Both Lashly and Greer succumbed to their injuries and died in a hospital several days later. Authorities reported that when deputies approached Winkelman’s residence to confront him, he took his own life, resulting in his death at a hospital on August 2.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Winkelman would have faced charges of two counts of first-degree murder along with two counts of armed criminal action.
Jessica Lashly’s other daughter, Justice Greer, shared her feelings about the loss. She described her sister, Jersey, as someone who could always bring laughter and support to those around her. Justice expressed admiration for her sister’s bravery in trying to save their mother during the dire situation. Justice emphasized the close bond shared within the family, stating, “It was always just us three,” and highlighted the difficulty of adjusting to their absence.
Abby Feldmann, who coached Jersey in lacrosse, remembered her as someone capable of transforming perspectives and rallying support from those around her. Feldmann noted that Jersey had an exceptional ability to inspire and unite everyone she encountered.
