Miles Sanders Arrested on DUI Charges in Pennsylvania

Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders faced arrest on DUI charges in June while driving in Churchill Borough, Pennsylvania, according to court records. The athlete, who last suited up for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, admitted guilt to charges of driving an unregistered vehicle and illegal parking in prohibited zones, based on online records examined by OutKick. Sanders is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 23 regarding careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

The arrest occurred after Sanders was discovered slumped over in the driver’s seat of his Lexus car, stationed in the middle of William Penn Highway, as per a criminal complaint obtained by CBS News. Attempts by officers to rouse Sanders were unsuccessful, as he was unable to respond to questions.

Officers said Sanders appeared to be “in and out of consciousness” and “extremely lethargic,” according to CBS News.

The former running back admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. Officers reported detecting an alcohol odor on his breath, and his eyes appeared glossy. Marijuana was also discovered in the vehicle. A portable breath test indicated Sanders tested positive for alcohol, as noted by police officials.

Sanders, a Pittsburgh native, is an alumnus of Penn State where he played college football. The Philadelphia Eagles drafted him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played his first four seasons with the Eagles before signing a four-year contract worth $25 million with the Carolina Panthers. However, he was released midway through the contract due to injuries and underperformance.

Subsequently, Sanders signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys, but injuries limited him to just four games. He remains a free agent, having not played since.

In his career spanning 88 games, Sanders rushed for 4,462 yards and 24 touchdowns, in addition to catching 183 passes for 1,274 yards and four touchdowns. His peak performance came in 2022, a year recognized by his sole Pro Bowl appearance, marked by 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns.
