Mike Rogers’ Campaign Focuses on Iran Conflict and Diesel Export Embargo

Former Representative Mike Rogers, running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan with support from former President Donald Trump, recently addressed the financial challenges facing American families. In a social media video, Rogers emphasized the importance of ending the conflict in Iran swiftly and proposed a temporary embargo on diesel exports until the conflict concludes.

“Michigan families are struggling with the price of everyday life. Groceries cost too much. We have to bring prices down,” Rogers stated. “The war with Iran needs to end, and end quickly. When it does, energy costs will plummet. But Michigan families can’t afford to wait for that to happen,” he added. Rogers had previously advocated for suspending the state and federal gas tax, noting the 70 cents per gallon impact. The state’s motor fuel tax stands at 52.4 cents per gallon, combined with federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel along with other fees, contributing to the total cost.

Rogers called for a diesel export embargo, highlighting diesel’s role in food transportation and production. “Diesel fuels the trucks that bring groceries to this store. It fuels the tractors that grow our food. And when diesel costs more, it costs more to grow it, ship it, stock it, and ultimately, buy it. So until this war is over, I’m calling for a temporary embargo on American diesel exports,” he explained.

President Trump has endorsed Rogers, vocalizing strong support in a recent social media post. “Mike Rogers has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next U.S. Senator from Michigan—HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” the post read.

As of September 22, the national average price for diesel reached a record high of $6.5276, according to AAA data. Rogers’ Democratic opponent, Abdul El-Sayed, responded to Rogers’ video by accusing him of duplicity in a social media post. Former Representative Justin Amash also criticized Rogers, questioning his recent stance on the Iran conflict.

In the political landscape, Rogers is competing against Abdul El-Sayed for the Michigan U.S. Senate seat. Both candidates are active on social media, using their platforms to engage with the electorate.
