Man Hospitalized After Bison Attack in Yellowstone National Park

A man suffered injuries after a bull bison, appearing highly agitated, flung him approximately eight feet into the air near a campground in Yellowstone National Park.

A photographer documented the dramatic moment at the park as the charging bison lifted the man off the ground. Reports suggest the animal might have been under the influence of increased testosterone levels due to the onset of mating season.

This incident took place close to Bridge Bay Campground near Yellowstone Lake in Wyoming, around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The victim, Carl Isom-McDaniel from Washington State, who is involved with several local community boards, ended up with several broken bones.

Video evidence from Mike MacLeod, a professional photographer from Bozeman, Montana, around 130 miles away, captured the bison’s aggressive behavior. The animal was seen roaming the campground and aggressively charging at various groups.

The area had many tourists present, with sunset roughly an hour away. Campground tourists were using small recreational vehicles and tents, maintaining a cautious distance from the bison. It is believed the animal’s behavior was indicative of the mating season’s start.

The bison’s aggressive interactions began with charging at a group of teenage boys, who quickly dispersed. Afterward, the bison continued its erratic movements around the camping area.
