A 56-year-old man was found dead on Thursday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago. Authorities reported that he had been attacked by at least one dog.
The discovery occurred around 8:50 p.m. outside a residence located in the 2000 block of West 47th Street. This information comes from both Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The autopsy results, made public on Friday, indicated that the man’s death was due to ‘multiple injuries’ stemming from ‘dog mauling.’ The medical examiner has classified the death as an accident.
Investigators have yet to confirm the man’s home address, and they have not been able to contact his family for comments. Additionally, it remains unclear how many dogs were involved in the attack.
The Chicago Police Department stated that detectives are actively investigating the death.
