39 minutes ago 0

A tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia has left a Georgia family mourning the loss of Hassan Kariem, a 42-year-old man who survived cancer and a car fire in recent months. Kariem fell from the 200-foot Goliath roller coaster on Monday, leading to his death.

Kariem’s sister, Andrea Clark, expressed her heartbreak over the loss. She shared her difficulty in understanding how her brother, who had overcome significant challenges, could lose his life so suddenly. She described Kariem as a hero to her and highlighted his past battles with cancer, from which he had been in remission since 2015.

Kariem was committed to his family, working hard to support them and assisting in raising his fiancée’s daughter since she was a young child. Clark emphasized his capability and active lifestyle, noting the tragedy and unfairness of his death.

“The coolest part about me was him,” Clark shared, grieving her brother’s passing.

Clark condemned the sharing of distressing images of Kariem’s fall, criticizing the insensitivity and harm caused by such actions. She urged people to stop spreading these photos.

Witnesses present at the incident reported a terrifying scene. One parkgoer observed Kariem in a souvenir photo taken during the ride, stating that they saw him fall and impact the ride structure multiple times. The Goliath roller coaster, known for its intense speed and dramatic drops, reaches up to 70 mph and includes a significant 170-foot initial drop.

Kariem was employed as an IT manager at Atlanta Public Schools, which extended condolences to his family following the incident.

Six Flags is actively cooperating with investigators looking into the circumstances of Kariem’s fall. In response to the incident, the park has temporarily closed similar roller coasters nationwide as a safety precaution.

While the cause of Kariem’s tragic fall is not yet determined, the incident has sparked conversations about roller coaster safety and potential liability concerns.
