Levi Wallace Announces Retirement from NFL at 31

Levi Wallace has decided to retire from the NFL at the age of 31, concluding his eight-year career. His journey began as an undrafted free agent from Alabama.

Last season, Wallace was part of the Jacksonville Jaguars but remained on injured reserve, never appearing in a game. His last on-field performance was with the Denver Broncos in 2024. On Instagram, he shared the news of his retirement, simply stating, “Walk-on. Undrafted. 8 years. Retired.”

Before his professional career, Wallace was an underdog at Alabama under coach Nick Saban. He joined as a walk-on in 2014 and spent two years on the scout team before earning a scholarship for the 2016 season. By 2017, he was a crucial starter in Alabama’s National Championship-winning defense.

“Not bad.”

During his time at Alabama, Wallace made impressive stats, including 48 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, and an SEC-leading 15 pass breakups. One interception resulted in a touchdown.

After going undrafted, Wallace signed with the Buffalo Bills and quickly moved into the starting lineup during his rookie season. He started seven games initially and maintained his position, playing all games he appeared in over four years. His time with the Bills resulted in 219 tackles and six interceptions.

Wallace then joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he started 18 of 31 games over two seasons. He showed his skill by securing six interceptions during his tenure with Pittsburgh.

In his final season with Denver, Wallace started two out of 13 games, recording 28 tackles. Over his entire career of 96 games, he accumulated 333 tackles, 56 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions.
