Late Field Goal Clinches Victory for Ravens over Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys experienced a tough defeat in Rio de Janeiro, as the Baltimore Ravens secured a win with a last-second field goal.

Late in the fourth quarter, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense advanced to the five-yard line with an opportunity to take the lead. However, they failed to score a touchdown and settled for a game-tying field goal by Brandon Aubrey.

With only seven seconds remaining, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson connected with wide receiver Zay Flowers on a 27-yard pass, promptly using a timeout with a single second left. Kicker Tyler Loop successfully kicked a 56-yard field goal, resulting in Baltimore’s 34-31 victory.

The Cowboys’ defense received criticism for the collapse in the final moments. Nevertheless, Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin believed the offense deserved more blame.

“I’m way more disappointed in the offense,” Irvin stated on ESPN’s “First Take.” “I am more disappointed in GOTI: The Greatest Offense There Is, not being the greatest offense there is.”

Prescott echoed Irvin’s sentiments, acknowledging the offensive shortcomings.

“Frustrated,” Prescott commented. “Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in. Yeah, it just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it.”

He emphasized that the defense should not have faced such a situation.

“Defense shouldn’t even have been in that position. Those guys were over there saying ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We’ve got to put the game away, period.”
