The Las Vegas Raiders are set for an intriguing 2026 season, featuring significant roster changes and a new head coach. They have added two quarterbacks: Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza and Kirk Cousins, a veteran known for his consistency.

His record includes 572 tackles, eight sacks, eight force fumbles, six interceptions, and 48 pass deflections. However, turning 30 this July, Johnson seeks stability and assured compensation from the Raiders following his trade.

The team faces a strategic decision, having also drafted Treydan Stukes in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft. Stukes, a 6-foot-2 defensive back from Arizona, recorded 52 tackles, 10 defensed passes, four interceptions, and one sack last season, sharing qualities with Johnson. The Raiders must now decide whether to continue investing in Johnson or shift focus to Stukes, who could claim the nickel position. Johnson’s performance in 2026 could escalate his price if he excels, yet rewarding him prematurely risks financial commitment to potentially declining abilities.
