Kelani Jordan triumphed over Kendal Grey to claim the NXT Women’s Championship at Heatwave. She described the bout as “one of the best matches of the year” or at least the best “women’s match of the day.” The competition lasted nearly 23 minutes with both athletes delivering impressive performances. Grey’s fall into an exposed turnbuckle allowed Jordan to execute a split-legged moonsault, securing her victory.

Jordan celebrated her win during the NXT Heatwave event at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, on August 30, 2026. According to Jordan, the chemistry between her and Grey contributed to the match’s quality. “Kendal and I have always had great chemistry. We are both perfectionists, so we always aim to give our all,” she shared with OutKick Dropkick. Jordan noted the intensity and competitiveness as key aspects of their match, highlighting its historic length as one of the longest NXT women’s singles matches without a stipulation.

Winning the title held particular significance for Jordan, marking her first opportunity to claim it. Previously, she held the NXT Women’s North American Championship and the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Knockouts Championship. “It feels awesome,” Jordan said, expressing her satisfaction after three and a half years pursuing the championship. Her win at Heatwave felt preordained after her extensive preparations and past accomplishments.

Looking ahead, Jordan is aware of the challengers eager to contest her title. Jaida Parker, fresh from a victory against Nattie during their Heatwave submission match, is first in line to challenge the new champion.
