Country singer Kacey Musgraves sparked controversy at a Texas concert by criticizing Christopher Columbus. She referred to Columbus as ‘lame’ and ‘a loser.’ Her comments came as the nation observed the holiday on Monday.
The remarks brought both praise and backlash. One notable response came from country music veteran Wynonna Judd. During an appearance on Tomi Lahren’s show, ‘Tomi Lahren is Fearless,’ Judd expressed her opinion on Musgraves’ comments.
‘She has the right to do that,’ Judd noted, ‘But that doesn’t mean it’s the right thing.’
Judd emphasized her role as an entertainer rather than a political commentator. She mentioned that fans typically want to hear her music, not her political views.
She shared that her grandmother would disapprove of mixing music with politics. Judd lives by the principle of ‘what would Dolly [Parton] do,’ choosing to let her actions speak louder than her opinions.
Judd’s commitment to supporting military service members is well-known. She feels hurt when people associate her support for the troops with specific political beliefs.
‘I didn’t come here to talk about politics, I came to talk about music,’ she stated. ‘It’s nobody’s business what I try to do in my private life.’
Judd emphasizes her patriotism and unwavering support for America’s servicemen. Her son serves as a deputy, further cementing her connection to such values.
‘I’m a patriot,’ she declared. ‘I support my servicemen. My son is a deputy. And I am for America. Period.’
While Judd avoids political discussions on stage, she remains clear about her beliefs. She shows respect for all presidents, regardless of political affiliation, noting, ‘If it was President Biden, I would support him. Because he’s the freaking president.’
