Jets Enhance Player Performance with New Training Facilities

The New York Jets are making a move to enhance player performance by expanding their Player Performance Center more than two-fold for the upcoming season. Team owner Woody Johnson has committed to this investment as part of the team’s efforts to make significant advances in 2026.

“We are investing in a dynamic training staff with experience in advanced performance systems to aid our players,” Johnson shared. “Our new facilities will be 250% larger, centralizing our strength and conditioning, recovery, and nutrition,” he told Fox News Digital.

Players will have access to top-tier resources, thanks to state-of-the-art equipment already in place at a temporary facility.

“We’re building a holistic health and human performance ecosystem,” Jets director of player performance Erik Korem said.

Korem emphasizes that the facility redesign is about more than just replacing an outdated weight room. The focus is on integrating training, assessment, practice, fueling, and recovery into a cohesive system.

The new two-story center is set to expand the existing space by 250%. It will prioritize player performance, recovery, efficient daily flow, and technology integration. Dedicated zones will support work on strength, speed, and mobility, while enhanced nutrition and recovery areas will facilitate personalized programming.

Currently, the team is training in a larger temporary structure. Old facilities are demolished, and new equipment is being used now, emphasizing no long-term project should hinder current season preparations. Korem praises Johnson’s commitment to transforming the investment into results for 2026.

Personalized Training Approaches

Personalization is key to the new center’s philosophy. Recognizing differing roles among players, the goal is precision in training. Frequent assessments help identify individual needs, allowing the staff to adjust their approach. The team’s custom app is pivotal for organizing data and providing personalized recommendations.

Serial measurements are vital, providing insights into how an athlete’s capabilities change over time. The team plans to use 3D motion capture and force plates to enhance understanding of player movement and readiness.

In practice, technologies like computer vision help track exercises, and connected resistance systems adapt to fatigue. Although technology plays a significant role, the expertise of coaches remains central in interpreting data and making informed decisions.

Recovery and Advanced Tools

Korem describes training and recovery as an arc requiring transitions between high activity and recovery states. The TERSA SAVA Sound Pod stands out, using music and vibration to aid relaxation. Other technologies include the Ammortal Chamber, combining various modalities for efficient recovery. Such tools, while advanced, complement the broader recovery plan and do not replace foundational practices like proper nutrition and hydration.

Enhancing Nutrition

The focus on individualized nutrition is also highlighted. Under the guidance of director Carmen Spencer, the nutrition team collaborates with chefs to offer meals suited to players’ needs, considering factors like timing and nutrition type. The goal is to fuel performance safely and effectively.

The Jets’ recent renovation follows a less favorable 2025 team report card by the NFL Players Association. The improvements address past critiques and enhance functions, particularly nutrition and recovery.

Integrating Technology and Practice

Despite the advanced technology, the most demanding part remains the on-field practice. The weight room is to provide support to practices, not replace them. Korem explains practice as essential in preparing players for real-game conditions.

The comprehensive center aims to analyze and meet each player’s needs, leading to better preparation and injury prevention. Korem ultimately focuses on the integration of people and resources to capitalize on the advanced tools.
