Jaclyn Smith, best known for her role in “Charlie’s Angels,” has spoken about her vibrant appearance at age 80, emphasizing the importance of love over makeup. At the Paley Honors Spring Gala in New York City, Smith reunited with former co-star Kate Jackson to commemorate 50 years of the iconic series.
When asked by Fox News Digital about her beauty secret, Smith replied, “Clean living, being loved.” She attributed her youthful look not to cosmetics but to her loving family, including her husband, children, and grandchildren.
“Great husband, two beautiful children, three granddaughters. So, it doesn’t get better than that. It’s all about love, all about family with me,” she said.
Smith portrayed Kelly Garrett from 1976 to 1981, leaving a significant mark on television history. During the event at Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel, Smith shared photos and reflected on the series’ enduring legacy.
On Instagram, Smith expressed gratitude, writing, “Kate and I were so lucky to attend and accept this on behalf of our Charlie’s Angels family, continuing in our celebration of 50 years since the launch of the series.” Fans showered her with praise for both her timeless looks and the inspiration she provided over the years.
Smith revealed that she didn’t realize the cultural impact “Charlie’s Angels” would have when she began. The series, which premiered in 1976, propelled its stars to fame; however, Smith remained the only original Angel for all five seasons after Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson departed.
“But I guess we did pave the way for some glamor and looking at women in a different way. We sort of paved that way for new roles for women,” she noted.
The Paley Honors Spring Gala celebrated this cultural phenomenon, and Jackson expressed amazement at its ongoing global broadcast.
Meanwhile, Jackson has opted for a quieter life in Virginia, preferring farm life over the Hollywood spotlight. She shared how this change provided her with peace and comfort far removed from the pressures of the entertainment industry.
Smith’s career in Hollywood spans over 50 years, beginning as a model and guest starring in shows like “McCloud” and “The Rookies” before “Charlie’s Angels.” She later earned critical acclaim, including a Golden Globe nomination for portraying Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in a TV movie.
Off-screen, Jaclyn Smith found enduring love with surgeon Brad Allen, whom she married in 1997. The couple met while her father received treatment at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center.
