Introducing AEW’s Clockwork Carnage Match at WrestleDream

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is known for its innovative and unique match formats. Fans are familiar with events like Stadium Stampede, Anarchy in the Arena, Blood and Guts, and Casino Gauntlets. These matches have become a part of AEW’s intriguing history. During Saturday’s Collision, AEW unveiled a new match type set to debut at WrestleDream.

Welcome to Cloudwork Carnage.

This match will feature eight wrestlers, with one emerging as the ultimate winner after navigating two challenging stages. The match will commence with two wrestlers chosen at random. Every three minutes, another competitor will join the action. Wrestlers who are pinned or submit will be eliminated until all eight participants have entered.

Following the entry of the eighth wrestler, the remaining competitors will enter a 15-minute scoring phase. Each pinfall or submission counts as one fall during this period. The competitor with the highest number of falls at the end will be declared the winner.

A key aspect of this match is that Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship as part of Clockwork Carnage. Ospreay is the current champion, having defeated Kenny Omega at All In in August. Before WrestleDream, he must defend his title against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France.

Additional matches are planned to determine other participants in Clockwork Carnage. Jack Perry and Samoa Joe will compete for a spot in the match. Joe returned to action at All Out after a short hiatus.

WrestleDream is scheduled for Oct. 17 at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.
