Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever delivered an impressive performance, scoring 28 points against the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. On Tuesday night, the Fever secured a 106-92 victory.
Mitchell dominated the first half with 20 points. Caitlin Clark contributed significantly as well, with 22 points and 10 assists. Their efforts helped Indiana win seven of their last nine games.
Before the game, Coach Stephanie White passionately defended herself and criticized distractions overshadowing the WNBA. Her words seemed to energize the team.
Indiana excelled, shooting 59% from the field and 79% from the three-point range, leading 64-46 at halftime. They maintained control, avoiding a repeat of their previous week’s loss against Las Vegas.
Mitchell had 11 out of 16 successful shots, sharing the spotlight with Clark and Sophie Cunningham, each making four three-pointers. Cunningham scored 12 points while Aliyah Boston added 19 points and seven rebounds.
For the Liberty, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu both scored 19 points. Jonquel Jones contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana extended its lead to 54-37 with a decisive 15-7 run late in the second quarter.
Although New York reduced the gap to 66-57 in the third quarter, Indiana regained momentum. Mitchell’s three-point play and Cunningham’s three-pointer widened their lead to 87-67 by the end of the period.
Indiana maintained their advantage, ensuring the game never became close again.
