Homeland Security Secretary’s Emergency Landing

3 weeks ago 0

The Coast Guard plane carrying Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin was forced to make an emergency landing on Wednesday due to a lost engine. The incident occurred with the C-37A aircraft, which is the military variant of a Gulfstream V. The plane successfully landed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The pilot reported 14 people were onboard, none of whom sustained injuries. Mullin shared on a social media post that the pilots handled the situation with routine professionalism, creating an atmosphere devoid of panic. ‘Just straight professionalism,’ he stated.

CBS highlighted existing concerns from the Department of Homeland Security regarding the aircraft. Previously, DHS had issued a statement revealing that the Coast Guard plane is 22 years old and faced significant obsolescence in avionics and communications.

Newsweek has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for further comments beyond regular working hours.

This story is still unfolding, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
