Veteran tight end George Kittle has overcome a significant hurdle in his football career. After tearing his Achilles during the San Francisco 49ers’ playoff victory over the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, Kittle is back in action for the team’s Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia.
Kittle’s training has been cautious following the injury, with limited participation in practice sessions throughout the week. However, he is now officially off the injury report, joining teammate Nick Bosa, who is recovering from a knee concern, as both players prepare to take the field for the season opener.
Speaking to 49ersWebZone, Kittle expressed confidence in his recovery, stating, “Body feels really good. It’s bounced back really good. I’d say I’ve really taken a step back … towards playing. But besides that, don’t know what the workload is.” His return marks his 10th season with the 49ers, during which he has established himself as a premier tight end.
Last season, Kittle demonstrated his prowess with 57 receptions, achieving 628 yards and scoring seven touchdowns in 11 regular-season games. His performance is vital to the 49ers as they commence their campaign against the Rams on Thursday night.
Fans can look forward to an exciting matchup as the game kicks off at 8:35 p.m. ET, promising an engaging contest between these two competitive teams.
