Incident in Houston
On Tuesday, a Mexican man was shot and killed by a federal immigration agent in Houston. The man, driving a vehicle, became part of the deportation enforcement directed by President Trump.
Officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that their officers attempted to stop and arrest the driver, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, around 6:50 a.m. The agency claims the driver used the car as a weapon, attempting to run over an agent. The agent responded by firing at the driver. This incident follows a pattern of similar shootings where such language has been used by federal authorities.
Details and Uncertainties
Despite the statements from officials, no evidence has been provided to support the claim that Mr. Araujo attacked the agent. The pattern of official descriptions unraveling in court adds skepticism to the claims. Mr. Araujo was shot in the abdomen, taken to a hospital, and later died, according to Rustin Rawlings, a spokesman for the Houston Fire Department.
