Enes Kanter Freedom’s Courtside Drama at WNBA Game

Enes Kanter Freedom, former NBA player, joined Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” to discuss his courtside ejection from the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game. The incident occurred after Natasha Cloud of the Chicago Sky directed offensive language at him while he was supporting Sophie Cunningham.

During the game, Kanter Freedom was seen courtside in a shirt with a definition of “woman” as “adult human female.” He explained to Ingraham that his attendance was driven by his passion for basketball and his support for Cunningham, who has faced criticism for standing up for female sports.

“I actually loved the game and enjoyed the game,” Freedom told Ingraham.

When Cunningham made a three-pointer, Kanter Freedom raised his hands in celebration. This prompted Cloud to approach him with personal insults, claiming Cunningham would not be romantically involved with him. Freedom expressed his surprise and urged that his presence was about protecting women, specifically Cunningham. Cloud escalated the situation with a barrage of expletives, despite the nearby presence of children and teenagers.

Freedom recounted, “(Cloud) started to yell and cuss at me. I was like, there are so many kids in those stands.” Security, however, chose to escort Kanter Freedom out of the arena instead of addressing Cloud’s behavior.

“I am a woman. I should be allowed to play,” Kanter told Ingraham.

Though Freedom mentioned that he identifies as a woman and referenced league rules that support his participation, the WNBA has stated he will not be eligible for the draft. Former NBA pick Royce White warned that the league might try to ban Freedom from future games for public relations reasons. Despite these challenges, Freedom’s interview aimed to highlight inconsistencies in the league’s gender policy.
