The Democratic Republic of Congo is experiencing a severe Ebola outbreak, with health experts working swiftly to control its spread. The outbreak, which reportedly began months earlier than initially recognized, has resulted in the deaths of more than 2,000 individuals.

According to recent government data and the Associated Press, there are 2,011 deaths and 4,381 confirmed Ebola cases. The numbers highlight the rapid and widespread nature of this public health crisis.

In the city of Bunia, volunteers have been observed donning protective gear to manage situations in the field. One such recovery involved the body of a 3-year-old believed to have succumbed to the deadly virus in June. The ongoing efforts by local and international health officials aim to stem the tide of new infections.
