Earth, Wind & Fire canceled a scheduled performance in San Francisco after a medical emergency affected one of the band members. The group was set to perform at the Chase Center on Thursday evening.
The band shared a statement on their social media, explaining, “We are unable to perform as scheduled tonight at Chase Center in San Francisco due to a medical emergency involving a member of our band.” This postponement also affected the show with Lionel Richie, which will be rescheduled. A new date will be announced soon.
The statement advised ticket holders to retain their tickets for the rescheduled date or seek refunds at the purchase point. The band expressed apologies for the sudden change and thanked fans for their understanding. The nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed.
Earth, Wind & Fire joined Lionel Richie on the Sing A Song All Night Long Tour, starting in June. The tour included stops across North America, including Canada, before reaching California.
The group was founded by Maurice White in Chicago around 1969. The classic lineup featured Verdine White, Philip Bailey, Ralph Johnson, Larry Dunn, Al McKay, Fred White, Andrew Woolfolk, and others. Known for their unique sound blending funk, R&B, soul, jazz, gospel, rock, and pop, their hits include “September,” “Shining Star,” “Let’s Groove,” “Boogie Wonderland,” and “After the Love Has Gone.”
