DOJ Takes Action on Alleged Non-Citizen Voter Fraud in Minnesota and California

2 minutes ago 0

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged 50 individuals in Minnesota with alleged voter fraud. These actions occur as Trent McCotter, Acting Deputy Attorney General, discusses the charges on ‘Saturday in America’. McCotter highlights a reported increase in voter crimes over the past month. In another measure, the DOJ contests a Florida judge’s ruling that rendered a law against non-citizen voting unconstitutional.

The Justice Department is also focusing on California. It threatens legal action against state election officials if they do not address suspected non-citizen voting for the November midterms. Letters from McCotter demand California Secretary of State Shirley Weber and Los Angeles County Registrar Dean Logan review a list of potentially ineligible voters within 48 hours. Officials must segregate ballots of those whose citizenship is unverifiable, or the DOJ will seek emergency legal relief.

A DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital that unauthorized non-citizens have been identified on California’s voter rolls, affecting not only Los Angeles County, but the entire state.

“This should not be controversial, as the criminal statute is clear: only American citizens may vote in federal elections,” the spokesperson stated. “It is a federal crime for noncitizens to vote in U.S. elections, and the DOJ is asking California to ensure that is not occurring.”

California Attorney General Rob Bonta responds, criticizing what he sees as intimidation tactics and false allegations. During a news conference, Bonta denies the presence of widespread voter fraud, calling it a conspiracy theory. He states his office’s collaboration with state officials to explore options.

Simultaneously, concerns arise in Los Angeles County. Dean Logan has received a USB drive with voter records but hesitates to access it due to cybersecurity and data privacy protocols. Logan expresses caution as the drive does not specify involved individuals or content details.

As Californians vote before the November 3 election, federal law prohibits non-citizens from participating. The DOJ has yet to prove the identified individuals cast illegal votes.
