The Los Angeles Dodgers are leading the Atlanta Braves 3-1 as Game 3 of the National League Division Series (NLDS) progresses. Starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto has delivered an impressive performance, retiring the Braves in order during the sixth inning. The Dodgers struck first in the fourth inning, with Kiké Hernández smashing a two-run homer, followed by Freddie Freeman’s solo blast.
In the top of the seventh inning, Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernández failed to advance, leaving it to Yamamoto to continue strong in the bottom half. Yamamoto struck out Lane Thomas and Austin Riley, accumulating a total of 10 strikeouts. Throughout his game presence, Yamamoto has allowed one run and four hits over 98 pitches.
The Braves managed to score during the fifth inning, loading the bases with singles from Mauricio Dubón and Lane Thomas. Although Braves pinch-hitter Rowdy Tellez drew a walk to load the bases, they scored only once, courtesy of Drake Baldwin’s groundout.
Earlier in the game, the Dodgers’ Kiké Hernández launched the team’s first homer in the fourth inning, which was quickly supplemented by Freeman’s solo homer. This extended the team’s postseason pattern: all runs have resulted from home runs.
In the third inning, Braves’ Mauricio Dubón made a notable defensive play, leaping to deny Freeman a potential home run. The inning ended with Dodgers leaving the bases loaded after Shohei Ohtani reached base on catcher’s interference.
Both teams saw strong outings from their starting pitchers. Chris Sale accumulated six strikeouts and conceded three runs over 80 pitches, while Yamamoto dominated with his fastball and collected key strikeouts.
Before the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided on a lineup change, hitting Shohei Ohtani fifth. In light of Ohtani’s recent physical ailments affecting his batting performance, Roberts remained open to further lineup adjustments.
