Dinesh D’Souza’s Exploration of Biblical Archaeology

Bestselling author Dinesh D’Souza embarked on a journey to Israel that led to a three-year exploration into biblical archaeology. This field, he claims, offers compelling evidence supporting the Bible’s historical accuracy.

In an interview, D’Souza expressed his fascination with biblical archaeology, describing it as a striking support for the Bible’s historicity. His latest book, “The Stones Cry Out,” is the result of years of research beginning in 2022, and it’s set to be released on October 13.

D’Souza’s book investigates archaeological finds related to the people, locations, and events mentioned in the Bible. Through his research, D’Souza examines what these discoveries suggest about the Bible’s credibility. One notable finding involves small biblical figures whose existence is supported by archaeological evidence.

Not everyone agrees these discoveries support the biblical record, but D’Souza is undeterred. He addressed skeptics, saying, “The problem is archaeology is unearthing artifacts that refute their claims.”

An example of a significant discovery is the Pilate Stone, found in 1961. This stone confirmed Pontius Pilate’s existence and his title as “prefect of Judea,” aligning with the Bible’s account.

Another notable case involves the Old Testament figure Balaam. In 1967, an ancient inscription mentioning “Balaam, son of Beor” was found in Jordan, linking this biblical figure to history.

D’Souza also highlighted the discovery of an ossuary in Jerusalem bearing the name “Yehoseph bar Caiapha.” This find provided evidence of a high priest mentioned in the Bible, Caiaphas, who played a role in Jesus’ trial and crucifixion.

According to D’Souza, archaeology offers “stunning corroboration” for the events and individuals described in the Bible. He aims to connect the academic world with the public through his book, “The Stones Cry Out.”

D’Souza encourages Christians to visit Israel, describing it as a “spiritual homeland.” He emphasizes that experiencing the locations where biblical events occurred offers a deeper understanding of scripture.
