Dallas Cowboys Owner Supports Tony Romo Amid Legal Troubles

The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, expressed his support for former quarterback Tony Romo following Romo’s recent arrest in Wisconsin. Arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence, Romo was also charged with having an open alcohol container in his vehicle and performing unsafe passing.

Jones shared his thoughts during an interview with KDFW Fox 4, emphasizing his admiration for Romo’s character and resilience. “I love him,” Jones stated, noting Romo’s unique talent and ability to handle adversity. Jones believes Romo will overcome this challenge.

“Do you think Tony Romo knows how to get up when he gets knocked down?” Jones asked rhetorically, praising Romo’s capacity to manage tough situations.

This incident gained significant attention as police bodycam footage became public. In the footage, Romo, who had been playing in the Wisconsin Amateur Golf Championship, is seen denying any alcohol consumption. “Because I’m coming from a golf course, you think I’m drunk?” he questioned.

After being detained, Romo was brought to a nearby station for field sobriety tests. He declined a breath test, advising that lawyers recommend against it.

As a result, CBS Sports placed Romo on leave from his position as a top NFL analyst, alongside Jim Nantz, until further notice. J.J. Watt, a former Houston Texans defensive end, will temporarily fill Romo’s spot in the broadcast booth.

Romo, who retired from the NFL on April 4, 2017, accumulated 34,183 passing yards, 248 touchdowns, and 117 interceptions, with a completion rate of 65.3% during his career.
