Toddler Falls from Jersey Shore Sky Ride

A concerning event occurred at the Jersey Shore when a toddler fell from a well-known boardwalk ride. The incident involved a 2-year-old girl and took place at Seaside Heights on Monday, as reported by the Asbury Park Press.

The event happened around 7:40 p.m. on the Sky Ride. The child fell before the ride began moving, according to NJ.com. She landed near the edge of the boardwalk and sand.

A 3-year-old boy, riding with the toddler and her aunt, remained on the Sky Ride. Casino Pier personnel promptly halted the ride. Firefighters assisted the boy in descending using a ladder.

Reports indicate that the ride is elevated about 10 to 12 feet above the boardwalk. Fire Chief Tim Farrell stated that the girl fell onto an entrance platform before reaching the sand surface.

Emergency medical services examined the child immediately after the fall. She and her aunt were subsequently taken to the Community Medical Center in Toms River for evaluation, according to reports.

An initial police assessment, as reported to the Asbury Park Press, suggested no defects in the ride’s operation. The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs is conducting further investigation into the incident.

The Sky Ride, constructed by Borvig, has been operational at Casino Pier since 1983, as noted by the amusement park database Coasterpedia.
