Craig Carton Criticizes Aaron Rodgers for Controversial Podcast Comments

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has become a divisive figure in sports. His blunt honesty and non-conformist views win admiration from many, while others struggle with his tough exterior and surly demeanor.

One outspoken critic is OutKick’s Craig Carton, who challenges Rodgers’ recent remarks made during a podcast with Steelers teammate Cam Heyward. Carton compares Rodgers to “The LeBron James of the NFL,” expressing disapproval of his recent controversial comments.

On the podcast, Rodgers mentioned an incident involving his ex-fiancee, actress Shailene Woodley. He claimed she told him a shocking statement shortly after agreeing to marry him. Carton criticized this disclosure, stating that Woodley has not spoken publicly about Rodgers for nearly two years.

“Mr. Narcissist himself, Aaron Rodgers, found the podcast as a platform to embarrass himself,” Carton asserted. Carton suggests that Rodgers’ comments about Woodley might be untrue. He believes Rodgers’ tendency to counter criticism points to his odd behavior, portraying him as a high-maintenance individual.

Rodgers also made remarks about former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, mentioning their relationship’s lack of intimacy and her depression post-retirement. He further shared that Patrick refused his offer to contribute to his Malibu home’s expenses, indicating doubts about their relationship’s direction.

Despite the absence of public comments from Woodley or Patrick, Carton attributes Rodgers’ actions to narcissism. “What joy do you get out of publicly embarrassing Danica Patrick or Shailene Woodley? It’s always about you, isn’t it, Aaron?” Carton asked.

Rodgers also criticized unnamed ex-teammates, whom Carton identified as former Packers receiver Greg Jennings and tight end Jermichael Finley.

Carton’s critique paints Rodgers as someone who disparages exes and teammates, questioning his character despite his athletic achievements. “As great as Aaron Rodgers was…he’s a lousy person,” Carton commented. “Would you prefer to be a great football player or a better human?”
