Courtney Love has opened up about a health battle she kept secret for years. The 62-year-old singer of Hole shared insights into her long-awaited album, noting that it developed during a challenging time when she was hospitalized frequently.
In an Instagram video, Love described a pivotal trip to England in 2019, during which her health deteriorated. “My body just exploded,” she said. She spent much of the time in hospitals, losing significant weight and her hair. “They told me I was going to die, and I didn’t believe them,” she added.
Love did not specify her illness but credited her recovery to a refusal to accept her dire prognosis.
Reflecting on her childhood, Love mentioned a habit of questioning what adults told her. “They’d tell me red was blue, and I’d see blue, but blue was blue,” she remarked. This tendency persisted during her health ordeal, as she refused to believe she would die.
“I never lost my ability to see that red was red,” she explained. Despite the grim predictions, she recovered and is now healthy.
Love expressed a desire to return to performing, highlighting music as vital to her well-being. Her new album was crafted during her recovery period. In a video caption, she admitted initially thinking it might be her final work, describing it as the album she always wanted to make.
Love thanked those who supported her during the difficult time and urged her fans for patience as she re-emerges into the public eye. This new project marks her first album release since Hole’s 2010 album “Nobody’s Daughter.”
