Republican congressional candidate Anthony Constantino announced he will donate $174,000 to the family of Sgt. Eddie Ryan, an Iraq War veteran with severe injuries. Constantino, the CEO of Sticker Mule, pledged this at a campaign event in Queensbury, New York. This amount equates to a year’s congressional salary. He committed to the donation irrespective of winning the race in New York’s 21st Congressional District.
“I planned to give away my entire congressional salary from day one,” Constantino stated, explaining his decision to Fox News Digital. Upon considering options, Sgt. Eddie Ryan stood out as an inspiration. Constantino views the act as a symbol to encourage Americans to work for a brighter future while urging others to support veterans.
Sgt. Ryan, once a U.S. Marine Corps sniper, suffered significant injuries in Iraq in 2005. He was hit by friendly fire, resulting in a traumatic brain injury, affecting his mobility and speech. Despite these challenges, his positive outlook left a strong impression on Constantino, who met Ryan briefly earlier this year.
Sgt. Ryan’s enduring positivity symbolizes his love for America, according to Constantino. “Even after his past experiences, he remains enthusiastic and committed,” said Constantino.
Constantino is currently campaigning against Robert Smullen, a state Assembly Member, in the Republican primary scheduled for June 23. This race is meant to choose a successor for Rep. Elise Stefanik. Constantino has invested millions from his own finances, framing his campaign as a challenge to the political status quo. He describes his involvement as an attempt to address systemic issues in politics.
President Donald Trump endorsed Constantino earlier this year, citing him as an ‘America First Patriot’. Constantino’s past includes engagements such as defending a large-scale pro-Trump sign on his factory premises.
