Connecticut Police Officers Shot During Arrest Attempt

Two police officers in Connecticut were shot, and a suspect was killed after an attempted arrest turned into a car chase and gunfire exchange near Hartford late Friday night. According to authorities, the incident began around 11:07 p.m. when Hartford police officers investigated suspected illegal activities.

The suspect, a male, fled the scene, prompting an officer to pursue and attempt to detain him. During this struggle, the officer reportedly felt a gun in the suspect’s waistband. The suspect managed to escape in a vehicle, leading police to chase him across the city through coordinated efforts with surrounding departments.

The chase concluded at Webster Court in Newington, located south of Hartford. Once there, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in injuries to two officers and the suspect’s death.

The injured officers were identified as Hartford Police Officer Alex Diaz and Rocky Hill Police Officer Jon Escobar. Both officers were transported to the hospital and subsequently released, as stated by local authorities.

A firearm was retrieved from the scene of the shooting. The identity of the suspect and specific details regarding the suspected illegal activity are yet to be disclosed by Hartford police.
