Comedians Mock Trump’s Lincoln Memorial Pool Makeover

On Tuesday night, late-night television hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon made jokes about President Donald Trump’s recent project to revamp the Lincoln Memorial Pool. The $14 million endeavor aimed to give the historic site an ‘American flag blue’ finish. However, the water turned green due to algal blooms.

Efforts to address the algae issue are ongoing, with teams from the National Park Service and contractors applying hydrogen peroxide to the pool. This initiative is part of a broader beautification project led by Trump in anticipation of the country’s 250th anniversary.

During his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel humorously highlighted the color mishap by showing footage of the pool. He mentioned, ‘Trump reportedly spent $14 million updating the reflecting pool on the National Mall.’ Kimmel explained Trump’s dissatisfaction with the pool’s appearance, leading to its repainting in ‘American flag blue.’ However, just a week after completion, the pool has turned completely green.

On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Fallon commented, ‘President Trump just finished his $14 million project on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool,’ which prompted boos from the audience. Fallon remarked that the intention was to make the water ‘American flag blue,’ but due to algae, it became a bright green.

Kimmel added humor by comparing the outcome to films, saying, ‘Trump was going for Avatar and he ended up with Shrek.’
