The Cincinnati Bengals signed Ceyair Wright as an undrafted free agent in April. Wright had played college football at Nebraska. His dedication to football intersected with another career path: acting. The Bengals announced Wright’s decision to leave the team to “pursue other opportunities.” He was placed on the Exempt/Left Squad list.
Dan Hoard, the radio broadcaster for the Bengals, mentioned on social media platform X that Wright left to explore television and film endeavors. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor commented on Wright’s departure:
“I don’t know how to properly define it for him. He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity,” Taylor explained. “I know it was a difficult decision for him. I think two things he’s really passionate about were colliding and he decided to pursue this opportunity. So, he’s a great kid, comes from a great university. We wish him the best. He was fun to be around. He really competed hard for us. It was fun watching him play. I thought he was ascending as a player. But, obviously, he’s chosen to go a different path.”
Ceyair Wright has accumulated notable acting roles. He portrayed LeBron James’ son in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” His other acting credits include a role in “Training Day.” Wright also appeared in TV sitcoms like “Grown-ish” and “2 Broke Girls.”
The Bengals have signed Matthew McDoom as Wright’s replacement. The move highlights the intersection of sports and entertainment careers.
