Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary: A Perspective on Values and Alliances

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended a heartfelt greeting to the United States on its 250th Independence Day, emphasizing the solid alliance between Israel and America. This anniversary is not only a celebration of history but also a reflection on the foundational values that have shaped the nation.

These values, rooted in Judeo-Christian principles, have influenced America’s founders and contributed to the country’s development. Liberty, human dignity, justice, and moral responsibility are concepts that were inspired by a biblical worldview, guiding successive generations of Americans.

The American government system reflects ancient truths presented to the Jewish people, with its three branches inspired by the words of the prophet Isaiah: “the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king” (Isaiah 33:22). The Old Testament and the Ten Commandments have informed the nation’s laws, emphasizing trust in the God who appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

These founding principles offer another reason to support Israel. The island nation demonstrated its commitment to freedom and moral responsibility following the October 7 terrorist attacks, highlighting the courage and sacrifice of those defending it.

Support for Israel should extend beyond the political realm to encompass faith, history, and the Jewish people’s unique influence on American values. Their guiding principles have been pivotal in shaping the country.

A poll by Infinity Concepts and Grey Matter Research last September highlighted a generational shift among Evangelicals. While they have traditionally supported Israel and the Jewish community, younger generations are increasingly disconnected from those values. Only 29% of Evangelicals under 35 recognize the Jewish people as God’s chosen, a statistic that should alarm those who cherish America’s historical and biblical roots.

Reaffirming commitment to these sustaining principles is essential. Support for Israel has contributed to America’s prosperity, and maintaining this alliance is crucial for future success.

Recent collaborative efforts, such as those between the U.S. Central Command and Israel’s General Staff, exemplify the strategic defense cooperation between the countries. Joint operations to address Iran’s nuclear ambitions showcase the partnership’s strength, built on hope, truth, and freedom.

As America celebrates 250 years of freedom, it must reinforce its commitment to its Jewish allies and the shared moral foundations given by God. Freedom prevails when each generation decides to uphold it.
