Celebrated Actor Michael Byrne Dies at 82

Michael Byrne, a distinguished British actor recognized for his performances in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, passed away on June 20, 2026, at the age of 82. Throughout his extensive career, Byrne appeared in a wide array of films and television series beginning in the 1960s. His final credited work occurred in 2023. Notably, he took on a role in Mel Gibson’s Braveheart, where he portrayed a violent soldier named Smythe.
