Caitlin Clark’s Eventful All-Star Weekend

Caitlin Clark had a weekend filled with memorable moments, starting with meeting former President Barack Obama and concluding with a strong performance in her first traditional All-Star Game. Her schedule was packed with sponsor events, drawing numerous fans eager to see her, many wearing her No. 22 jersey.

At a Wilson event to reveal her new basketball line, Clark expressed her excitement about the weekend’s activities. She emphasized her appreciation for participating in the All-Star weekend, considering it a special experience. This marked Clark’s first traditional All-Star Game, as she missed the previous year’s event in Indianapolis due to an injury. During her rookie season in 2024, she participated in a competitive match between the U.S. Olympic team and the WNBA All-Stars, with some believing she deserved a spot on the Olympic squad for Paris.

Clark made an immediate impact on Saturday, thrilling the record crowd of 19,783 at the United Center. She scored her team’s initial eight points, including a steal for a layup and a signature deep 3-pointer. Although the league removed the 4-point shot this year, Clark impressed with her long-range shooting.

Despite missing the 4-point opportunity, Clark enjoyed helping her team secure a 129-122 victory. Reflecting on her conversation with Obama, she remembered his advice, “don’t lose the joy.” She admitted feeling nervous when meeting him, asking for a photo—a request she often receives from fans.

Following her meeting with Obama, Clark engaged in several sponsor activities. She attended WNBA Live, where fans interacted with league sponsors. At the State Farm exhibit, she joined a musical chairs shooting game, watched by hundreds. Clark encouraged a group of girls in a similar competition, offering her shoes to the winner. She then visited a Nike tournament to support her former AAU team, Iowa Attack, and unveiled her basketball line with Wilson.

During these few days, Clark embraced the enjoyment of basketball, setting aside external pressures. Now, she returns to competition as the Indiana Fever play in Seattle on Tuesday.
