Bubba Watson Confronts Fan at LIV Golf Indianapolis

Bubba Watson encountered a disturbance from a fan during the second round of the LIV Golf Indianapolis. The event took place at The Club at Chatham Hills, marking a significant moment in the LIV season finale.

While playing alongside Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau, Watson noticed a fan yelling as Westwood prepared his approach shot. The fan shouted, “Bryson, Bryson,” prompting Westwood to pause. Watson approached the fan and challenged them to speak again. The fan remained silent as Watson called out, “Oh, you don’t want to say anything now? Say something, I’m looking at ya, say it.”

Watson finished his round with a 2-under 68, placing himself in a competitive position. This performance was rare for the 47-year-old, who had only one top 10 finish in 11 starts on the LIV circuit in 2026. Earlier in the year, he missed the cut at The Masters.

Jordan Spieth mentioned that gambling issues are causing rowdy golf crowds and urged for an immediate resolution.

Watson’s confrontation highlights broader issues within LIV Golf. Reports surfaced that the Saudi Public Investment Fund will cease funding the tour beyond 2026. This decision led to the cancellation of the LIV Team Championship in Michigan and the relocation of the season finale to Indianapolis. Additionally, the prize money was reduced from $20 million to $10.1 million.

LIV Golf also faces a lawsuit from Fresh Tape Media over $1.2 million in alleged unpaid dues related to preseason media work. Although CEO Scott O’Neil announced securing an unidentified investor, details remain undisclosed. The plan for ‘LIV 2.0’ includes players owning a majority stake and ten tournaments, five in the U.S. and five worldwide.
