Brush Fire Prompts Evacuations in La Habra Heights

A brush fire has erupted in the hills surrounding La Habra Heights, California. The fire has destroyed one structure and threatens others, leading to evacuations in the area. The Palos fire began shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the 2400 block of Las Palomas Drive in Whittier, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

By 4 p.m., the fire had spread to about 12 acres, as reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The authorities have issued an evacuation warning for nearby neighborhoods as fire crews strive to contain the blaze.

Footage aired on KTTV showed at least one structure engulfed in flames. The evacuation warning covers an area approximately bounded by Puenta del Este Drive and Hacienda Road on the east, Casalero Drive, Lupin Hill Road, and Las Palomas Drive on the west, Windrush and Gun Tree drives to the north, and Encanada Drive to the south. This includes part of Puente Hills Preserve, the Hsi Lai Temple to the east, and several businesses at Colima Road and South Hacienda Boulevard.

Residents are advised to stay informed as the situation unfolds, and follow all instructions from local authorities.
