Blakeman Criticizes Hochul and Mamdani at Campaign Rally

1 hour ago 0

Republican New York gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman criticized Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul during a campaign rally in Yorktown Heights. Blakeman, who is the Nassau County executive, described Hochul as a ‘puppet’ of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Blakeman accused Hochul of supporting the agenda of Mamdani, a democratic socialist mayor, while not effectively addressing illegal immigration and crime. He stated, ‘Kathy Hochul, she was out campaigning with Mamdani this week. And I say that’s great.’

‘Please take him everywhere you go, Kathy, because I want to remind people that this un-American, antisemite, anti-Christian mayor is running the Democratic Party and Kathy Hochul is nothing more than his puppet,’ Blakeman continued.

Hochul and Blakeman recently debated over her association with Mamdani, a debate marked by fiery exchanges. The governor has been seen campaigning alongside Mamdani, especially at a rally in Brooklyn.

This political partnership reflects the growing influence of democratic socialists in New York, marked by Mamdani’s victory in the previous mayoral election. Candidates backed by Mamdani and the democratic socialist movement have achieved significant successes in congressional primaries, unseating two Democratic incumbents.

Blakeman has consistently criticized Hochul and Mamdani on issues of public safety. In a previous campaign event in New York City’s subway system, Blakeman accused Hochul of being the ‘most pro-criminal governor’ and blamed both leaders for failing to keep commuters safe.

Mamdani has also been vocal against Blakeman. He accused the Republican candidate of ‘bigotry and racism’ after a debate earlier this month.

Despite the criticisms, Hochul and Mamdani have focused on themes of affordability and child care in their campaigns. They argue that their policies aim to reduce costs for working families.
