4 weeks ago 0

Massive flames erupted at a bar in Bangkok, causing severe destruction and resulting in over 28 deaths. An investigator noted that the venue was using unsafe materials for soundproofing, contributing to the disaster.

There were 11 of us there and two of my colleagues, including my girlfriend, are gone, Mr. Atipat said, overwhelmed with emotion.

Mr. Atipat Wijan, whose band frequently played at the bar, mentioned that frequent electrical issues made him ignore a faint burning smell initially. The situation escalated into a terrifying blaze, producing scenes that resembled a giant flamethrower.

Video footage revealed that some patrons shattered the front windows to escape. Others ran towards the back exits, where many were trapped and succumbed to the fire. Officials later reported exits were either blocked or inaccessible.

By Monday evening, authorities confirmed 28 fatalities and numerous injuries, with over two dozen critically wounded. Specific details about the victims and cause of death were not disclosed.

This incident adds to the list of tragic events at entertainment venues in Bangkok. Despite being a bustling international hotspot, the city is often criticized for its low safety standards.
