Arrest in Arizona: Unrelated to Missing Person Case

15 minutes ago 0

An Arizona man previously detained and released without charges in relation to Nancy Guthrie’s unsolved abduction has been arrested again on unrelated charges, local authorities report.

On September 30, 2026, Luke Daley was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex, according to a spokesperson from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. This recent arrest is not connected to the Nancy Guthrie case.

Daley, aged 37, has a history of criminal activity and prior felony convictions. On February 13, law enforcement stopped him in a Culver’s parking lot and searched his mother’s home during the investigation into Guthrie’s abduction in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood, situated approximately two miles away.

Hours later, Daley was released without any charges. Currently, there are no publicly identified suspects in Guthrie’s disappearance, and her whereabouts remain unknown. A masked intruder seen in Nest doorbell camera footage around the time of her abduction is still at large.

Daley’s attorney, Chris Scileppi, released a statement after his release, clarifying that Daley has no connection to Guthrie and lacks any information regarding her kidnapping. Scileppi emphasized that Daley, alongside the Tucson community, hopes for Guthrie’s safe return to her family.

Daley faces pending drug and firearm charges and was on probation for a separate case related to drug and weapons violations. Prosecutors are seeking to revoke his probation in the latter case.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about Guthrie’s case to contact the FBI or Tucson’s Crime Stoppers affiliate. The unclaimed reward money for information currently exceeds $1.2 million.

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over eight months. The FBI released doorbell camera images, though it remains uncertain if they depict the same person.

Two notes allegedly from Guthrie’s kidnappers were received by her family via online media tip forms, with one demanding ransom and the other claiming her unexpected death. Authorities have yet to identify the senders or verify the notes’ authenticity.
