The search for the new James Bond is ongoing, and former Bond actress Alison Papworth has expressed a clear opinion on what she hopes to see in the casting. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Papworth shared her thoughts on the potential announcement of the next 007 actor.

What do I hope? I know they’re about to announce the next Bond, aren’t they?

She emphasized the importance of staying true to the original books:

If they’re true to the books, I hope it’s a man. A man, just a man.

Papworth believes the role should remain male, as casting a woman would significantly change the character’s dynamic.

Alison Papworth starred alongside Roger Moore as 007 in films like For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy. She praised Moore as an absolute gentleman, sharing fond memories of his humor and kindness during their shoots.

Papworth recalled a humorous anecdote from the set when Moore was gifted beef drippings by a stuntman because he enjoyed it.

Amazon MGM Studios announced the search for the next James Bond earlier this year, with Denis Villeneuve set to direct the next film and Steven Knight writing the screenplay. Daniel Craig was last seen as 007 in No Time to Die in 2021.

Papworth shared anecdotes from her Bond career, mentioning trips to picturesque locations and luxurious experiences, albeit with some challenging days on set due to weather conditions.

The upcoming Bond film will be the 26th installment in the franchise’s storied history, with many actors rumored for the iconic role, including Jack Lowden, as discussed by Gary Oldman on The Morning Show.

There’s six people on a shortlist. I heard a rumor that they’ve picked James Bond, but they haven’t announced it yet, which is their prerogative. So I do not know [who has got the part], but I’m hoping it’s Jack.

Following her Bond appearances, Papworth transitioned into interior design, establishing a successful career. Today, she serves as a director at Camhall Design & Consultancy, which has completed projects in various cities worldwide, including London, New York, and Boston.
